First topic message reminder :
hi all, we have been getting a few enquiries for the 2015 muster, thinking of sandstone this year and due to the poor attendance to Niagara muster 2014 we will be keeping it simple with no fees and consequently no BBQ or prizes awarded. just a get together of as many of us that are keen. post any suggestions on dates ETC and we can start the process of getting leaseholders info for 40E's and/or permissions as required.
cheers

Cliff knows the way, my 4bie carries a snatch strap, shackles, a shovel and high lift jack. I'll bring some silicone incase we need to turn someones caravan into a boat we'll get there hook or by crook

if you have a larger van you probably will be better off taking the 2nd turnoff for polelli rd its not so rough, not that the first is bad but there are a few spots, else go through to Meeka. same with the north or south track in.

Re: 2015 Forum Muster
Hi, just want to post a bit about it out there. There is plenty others out there that are not from the forum. It is a huge huge area and has been scraped to death. We are not knocking the area, but we left there lunch time as wife has got bad asthma andhayfever. We found a total of 4 nugs from .2 to 1 gram for total of 2.03grams. 2 pf the bits also have ironstone through them.
for those of you going out there really check out your hotrocks. We got a few and decided to keep them and on inspection we found fine specks of gold in one of them with magnifying glass. A couple others who you will see out there told us before we pointed out the one hotrock said they would be throwing them until they looked at one. Im not saying they all have gold in them but they will be crushed to see once home.
and do not forget the aerogaurd, boy the flies will carry you away.
good luck fellow prospectors. TG

Re: 2015 Forum Muster
hi all, just got back from the muster and would like to fill you all in on the great trip. a total of 12 of us got there and all met up at the designated spot. over the week we had a great time and met some wonderful people with great weather except the last night where we were hit with a quick but nasty storm with lightning and vertical rain, everyone had to dash off and secure their vans but it passed as quickly as it came. most found gold with some very impressive nuggets showing themselves proving the area still has some nice nuggets to shed, a couple of 8 gram plus were found and a 7.5 gram nugget was also won but i will let the finders fill you in on the details when their ready. personally i found 6.5 grams of nuggets and 3 species that after doing the maths held an oz of gold. i also got a beautiful specie with around 8 grams of gold but also had a full terminating quartz crystal attached, a rare find indead. i will post pics once all cleaned up. i also found a quartz blow near an old mine and after a few hrs searching discovered 5 large quartz rocks that all contained gold, its hard to estimate the total until they see the rock crusher and are panned off so i will post b4 and after pics soon. so for me at least 1.5 oz but could be anywhere up to 4 oz once crushed. best trip for me ever. as travelergold mentioned the place has been scraped to death but the larger nuggets all came off the scrapes you just had to get rid of the rubbish to get the prizes. pics coming soon.

Re: 2015 Forum Muster
It was a top week to be out there and finally meet some of our members, it was bloody excellent.
The easterly cold wind could be a killer at times but that's what ya have camp fires for. Friday night just gone was an experience and I've never seen people run so fast
It came in quick, thunder and lightning then it p*ssed down
Martin killed it with the gold finds, good going Martin and well done for the work ya put in to get it.
As for me, I only got one piece with the 7000 that came in at 7.1 grams, but I'm happy.
Now here's some personal details. Make sure your boots or shoes are definitely metal free. I bought a pair of boots that the maker said has no metal in them. The 7000 almost became a tree decoration on the first day, the boots gave a big signal. So it was my old worn out thongs all week and they are stuffed now
Some nice pieces of gold found and the 2300 does extremely well on the smaller bits, maybe something else to put in the detecting arsenal.

Well done guys, sounds like it was fun!
Nice specie with the crystal Martin - very rare find indeed. On my last trip a few weeks ago I was stoked to find my first specie with quartz crystals in it - about the size of an orange that glitters with heaps of small terminated crystals on one face, but it only has maybe half a gram in it. I'll try and take a photo sometime and post it.
I bet you can't wait to see what's in those rocks Martin!
Cheers

Very impressive Martin, you're happy if your smile is any indication.
BTW who was sitting around the campfire wearing shorts at this time of the year?

Re: 2015 Forum Muster
haha, that was cliff, crazy bugger . he detected all week in thongs after realising his "no metal" boots sounded great to the 7k. he even dug a 12 inch hole chasing his boot signal. lol. but he did get a 7.5 gramer later in the week. so he redeemed himself.

That was our mate Cliff, who went bare legged all week, like that, like a pro Pete.Nightjar wrote:

Sure was nice to meet with everyone, me and Rocky had a great time.
While I struggled with the flu and no energy to dig the amount of holes I wanted, my 600cc 2 wheeled patch hunter decided to die on me on the 1st day
What also sucked was finding detector holes and chain marks on patches 5km's from camp as did sharing the swag with a wet mutt on the last stormy night before heading home.
Big thanks to Martin for the leg work on the muster and Cliff for following in convoy, reminding me to stay on the road on occasion when it wasn't the dogs fault freaking out and hiding under the pedals after a road cattle grid..
Quinns sure seems to have it if you are prepared to put in the time as it is a BIG area even if it's covered in GG patches and people swinging 23's, 5's andf 7's everywhere.
Saw the 2300's doing a good job cleaning out flogged areas and tearing hearts out of DWAG campers finding someone digging nuggets literally at their neighbors camp trailer door, a 5000 stumbling across a real forgotten prize in an old scraping by a very modest lady who dicided to dig some junk just in case, Some New coils giving their owners some happiness and even some others having better luck finding more old collectible bottles, than gold nuggets.
Those in the area, should still give the area a shot if not to find a bit of gold, at least, you'll possibly make some new friends as the place isn't remote enough from diehards doing multi week stints. BUT make sure there is a BIG magnet on your pick.

Re: 2015 Forum Muster
I thought I had some video of a FULL MOON twice in one day, but it appears I forgot to take the lens cap off.
You are safe nuggie
I didn't take too many pics but here's a few.
The 7000 is hard to pin point with. The length of the pick is 22 inches. Got a damn good signal but had to make the hole wider to get the coil in deeper. Found out the target was in the wall down about 6 inches and all for half a rusted safety pin.
But I did find this little sucker later only about 1 and a half inches down. Only 7.1 grams but ya gotta love it.
There are some deep shafts out there, this one turned out to be a water well in a creek.
All in all, a good week.
And a big thankyou to the ladies for the cooking of the BIG FEED.

Thank you once again to Martin for organising a great Muster. Joan & I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and look forward to next year's muster and catching up with members before then if possible. Joan picked up a 22.4 gram nugget in an area that had been very well worked with lots of rubbish around. picture attached
