Dont see much around the old camps any more due to scabs and vandals, but this one was a bloody beauty

It would look loverly next to a headframe in the front yard

Coming from thieving convict stock, I'd be finding someone with a 6 or 8 wheeler with Hiab and go get it before someone beats ya to it

Re: Old Mining Machinery
Gettin off the topic a bit and this photo is not the best. years ago I saw a few of these parked up in the scrub and what had been done to the ground.
The owner/users of these machines ended up in deep sh*t with DMP. They got charged/prosecuted and persecuted. Personally I think they deserved the fine they got. I think they even lost their machinery but I won't swear on it.
They were just towed anywhere and the idiots using them just stripped the ground. funny thing was, they didn't own a lease but the pricks would come charging outa the scrub at ya to get off "THEIR" ground. They were Poachers on a big scale.

Re: Old Mining Machinery
Stu
It was used to power (via belts) a 5 head battery and water pump on an old Deep reef shaft.
Most of the other gear was there except the Rods,Tippets & boxes.
I'd love to have a place with a few extra acres, put some old gear like that on it. man that would be sweet

Re: Old Mining Machinery
Yep, one has to wonder with what effort those oldtimers got massive machines into remote areas only to have the gold cut out in a relatively short time.
We really appreciate coming across these remnants of history, its part of what makes remote bush exploration so interesting.
A couple of pics from early this year, leaving out the location for someone else to identify

Re: Old Mining Machinery
Wow boobook, that stamper is great.
What a bloody shame the WA state Gov wont step in and help the mining hall of fame in Kalgoorlie so it can re open to the public.
That place has some top mining gear.
Pete

Re: Old Mining Machinery
Thanks for that Pete.
Yes, that spot has quite an amount of old gear left.
Amazing that the old hot bulb oil engine is still pretty much complete (although seized), but geez I reckon a restorer would love to have a go at it.
I had a good scrape around the bottom of the stamp heads, panned out 15 specks!
It had been well looked at over the years though.
Any ideas where it might be?
Mike
