Re: Minelab PRO-SWING 45
G'day while I'm in reception thought I'd mention how the harness is going. It's awesome. You can't feel the weight of detector at all. I detect 8 to 10 hours daily and notice a big difference at end of a days detect compared to using a hipstick. Hipsticks still have a place no doubt. But more for a few hours detecting here and there.
As for cons in regards to the new harness I thought I had two.
After two days use my right bicep on the inside continually brushed against the j strut. Believe me it became painful. I thought it was a flaw. But I adjusted the length of harness at the back. It needed shortening. No more rubbing no more pain. The only flaw I can think of is what a shame there's no pouches at the front for smokes, gps, water etc. that is it a brilliant aid by minelab. When in field walking up or down slopes you can adjust the length of bungee cord whils on the go in a split second so making it very easy to get a perfect low swing at all times. Those who detect long periods should look to get one.
See ya later hipstick.

Here's my answer to the new harness
Yep, get stronger in the arms and shoulders. I find if I don't get the muscles up to strength, I suffer bad. Build them up, save some money.
Bit of exercise never hurt anyone.

Don't need beer to exercise but it helps.
I've posted here before about it. if ya haven't got much time, get 2 beach cricket balls. Then google isometrics.

Hi Jase - sounds like you are swinging too fast and melted it! Just joking! Did you know that you can buy the fittings? - they are a type of tool holder. My old man bought some from a local hardware (down Bunbury I think) - not sure if Bunnings stock them. He made some up using a fiberglass shaft and they work a treat.
This link shows you what it is.

The first time I saw a hipstick I thought they were a great idea. I actually shaped mine from an old wooden lease peg using a Swiss army knife while I was rained in. Carved a ball on the end and shaped and sanded the top part. I used an original base that a mate had with him. It's lasted for about 4 years = 4 months solid detecting and is going strong.
When I made it my mate jokingly said I should carve a notch in it for each ounce I find. I didn't think it would last so long - it would have a few notches in it if I had! Might be an heirloom to hand down?
Easier to make it from the tool hanger thing though.
Cheers

Re: Minelab PRO-SWING 45
Well just got back after 5 days detecting with the new harness, found it to be very good as didn't cause any probs with my dickie shoulder that the old harness aggravated, i went back to my old bungee though as the bungee came off the new clip on the shaft a few times whilst digging targets, very happy with it.
