wild dog baiting--starting
Report on the ABC this morning stating the Pilbra Pastoralists are about to start baiting for the coming season with
dogs close to town on the hit list
Some 4000 baits will be dropped from the air in strategically targeted locations.
So if u r a dog owner u have 2 options...
Buy a very good muzzle, one that the dog cant lick baits caught in the mesh.
Keep yah dog at home.
I am not sure whether they r still using the old baits--if so there's no coming back once the dog has had a dose.
Its not nice so please look after yah pets.
If u r in the bush and your dog gets a bait then unfortunately your pet will die before anything can be done --if any--
it is heart breaking watching your pet die so take all necessary precautions.

Re: wild dog baiting--starting
Baiting is also happening all over the Murchison... Our racks start Sept 22nd around CUE.
No one likes it... we have all lost our best mates because of it..
But there isn't a sheep or goat left from CUE North. The dogs have come in numbers & wiped the lot out.
The better news is the new dog proof fence will be finished 2017. It comes from Gabinintha down the old rabbitty to below Nanine, then across the Meekatharra, Cue shire boundary west
Then the big job of internal eradication will start.... many many baits.
I think it will be 6 years before we run small stock again.
Its all because the govt pulled the plug on dog eradication in the first place.. mongrels

Some great tips Ray. If your looking for a muzzle the best ones are the plastic cage that we use on our working dogs.
As Ray said if your dog takes a 1080 bait it's not a pretty sight.
I have attached a link to the one I use hope thats alright Admin? I have no affiliation with them.

I have noticed new signs of baiting on the gates at KARRATHA STATION AND MT. WELCOME so you have absolutely no excuse to take your pet anywhere without a muzzle on.
