I have 3 batteries all packed up and ready to go back to homebase at Minelab.

See its now too dangerous to send these items by plane due to the fear of explosion but if they wont charge then I suppose they shouldn't pose a problem

Mind u I don't want to bring down a plane either so will have to look at trucking them back..

Has anyone else come across this dilemma with their battery.?

do a search, I have posted the required notices from ML about sending batteries.
If ya can't find it, ask me and I'll post them again.

Just read that old post about batteries. I remember getting hassled at the check in counter about the batteries.
Check before you fly but with Austpost, there has never been any problems.

When sending a package they will normally ask if there are batteries in the box, you will also have to sign a label declaring that the parcel is safe to go by air, the bird at the PO said that any parcel that contains batteries goes by road.

Probably take about 4 days from Karratha to SA, takes a couple of days from Perth to SA, don't bother sending them express as they will still go by road anyway.

Iv sent my battery back to ML via courier...ML return it via AAE.??

I have bought things from brissy when in WA which had Li-ion batteries in them, which was flown in to Laverton withing 3 days. GPS was one item. Again via plane.

Laptops you take on a plane have a battery capacity much larger than the detector battery.? Most new laptops tablets cameras ect use Li-ion.

Passenger jet vs cargo plane.?? The rules maybe different.??
All a bit of a worry aywot.? Rolling Eyes

they don't mind u taking as overhead luggage with u coz the cabin is pressurised but are wary of a fire in the cargo hold that's all I was told.

stuff it i'll try Toll as pete says and see what they charge.

From personal experience, if they are wrapped in bubblewrap there is no problem.
They just dont want the battery terminals in contact with each other.
I was asked to take the 5000 batteries as carryon hand luggage and they were wrapped in bubblewrap.
I couldn't see the difference, cargo or hand luggage, they were wrapped the same.
