2 in the rain
First weekend with the 5k, in the rain, wind, and thunder.
Got these 2 little suckers.
One is .6 and one is .3
The .6 was hard to hear at, about 5 inches.
But the .3 screamed like a coke can at over 6 inches once i scraped away about an inch of topsoil..
Struggling to detect my .2 test piece with fine gold and the 11 mono...
Any tips?

Get that stabilizer up off 1 to say 7, and run audio in "Boost", also make sure when your front switch
is in special that the rear screen actually says fine gold in the special menu also mate.
Dont fall for the old smoother is better trick cause its not, basically thats just dumbing down the machine
to get a smooth threshold, you want to be making her freak out at any targets not give a warm response,
on a scale of 1 - 10 where would you be saying the area is at ground wise ?, with 5 being average old
diggings ground with plenty ironstone hotrocks.
Most times when i run the 11" mono i run these settings
Front panel
Gen
Special - fine
Fixed
Mono
Rear screen
All Factory pre sets except
Motion - slow/v slow
Audio - Boost
Gain - 15 - 18
Stabilizer - 7 - 12
Tracking - Med even tho in fixed (better GB is attained)
Audio Tone - 80 (more stable on high gain)
You may find it a bit unstable but the gold rips ya head off when ya get a target.
Give it a wack no harm trying and these settings work very well in WA nasty sh#t
so should be ok for Qld also.
Like Robert said tweek away mate, but never fall into the smoother is better thing.
And JP i know your thoughts on this style of settings cheers mate.
Any picks of the ground and nuggets Maka ?

Yeah the gold pic is above,,, u have to squint to see the little buggers... Will upload a pic of some of the rock in a sec for ya...
Motion - slow/v slow... V slow seemed a little better on the .2 test piece
Audio - Boost yep
Gain - 15 - 18 Found 18 to 20 to be best for me
Stabilizer - 7 - 12 Ok when i dropped it below 5 i couldnt hear my test piece at all, but on 1 i could .
Tracking - Med even tho in fixed (better GB is attained)yep
Audio Tone - 80 (more stable on high gain)I was on about 60 ish i think
sorry for the scan job, i couldnt find the camera... As you can see its volcanic conglomerate with ironstone.
The top layer is pipeclay, with this and slate/shale rock underneath, and some mudstone. and some serious quartz veins thrown in for good measure..
