Aboriginal Lines Empty Aboriginal Lines

While detecting south of Wiluna ran across an area where the white quartz rocks had been layed out in patterns on the ground. One appeared to be a walk way terminating in a half circle, others were circles, lines and rectangles. Sure would not provide any protection from the elements but maybe they were areas where one could sit and be protected from other unseen forces? Anyone else seen these and what are your thoughts?

Come across a couple of places like that myself, possibly aboriginal but more likely long term camping sites used by prospectors with vans or tents , removing rocks and debris from walkways to save themselves going ass up during the night waddling back and forth from the fire to the van to get a drink etc. drunken

I did however once find what I believe was a babies grave off the roadside along the Thunderlara road between Payne's Find and Yalgoo, a small oval shaped placement of stones about 800 long x 500 wide, with a few smaller stones in the centre, the stones were buried a bit not on the surface so it looked quite old, could have been aboriginal or early pioneer, don't know for sure what it was but just had the feeling it was a grave site after seeing similar placements of stones in old goldfields cemeteries about the place.

Some things are just meant to b left alone and maybe reported to the right people to investigate and mark as heritage and or a sacred site.

In SW Qld. approx. 120km. WSW of Eromanga we had an opal EP.M adjacent to an area known as "top of the world".
This is a jump up with a flat of around 750m. x 200m., part of it called (locally) "pickaninny playground".

Completely flat, it has been set out with small boulders in geometric shapes, some looking like rooms with connecting passages others like a maze but interestingly all with more or less right angles, no curves or circles. This covers an area of at least 1/2 of the mesa, I wasted quite a bit of time trying to decipher it.

A good sized, permanent water rockhole below is a location of ancient camps with chipped carvings (not paintings) on the walls. They would have used the caprock (silcrete) to carve the softer Cretaceous sandstone.

An amazing place which actually does give off an aura of good vibes. This was an area where white settlement integrated well with the original inhabitants. Being where it is and the difficulty of getting in, it is very much off limits to access and any vandalism.

Our EP? Much like many of the others. Sad
