I won't get into the argument about the competency of the Police.
I really hope they find Jenny. Coz this is turning into a farce.
So I ask myself, How safe is it around Sandstone now ??
It can't be doing much for the tourism industry thinking there maybe some crazy out there.
Lets hope this is settled really quick, someone knows what happened.

I went through Sandstone twice this year and each time I couldn't get a powered site at the caravan park, so apparently, it hasn't affected tourism much at all. Still a great little town with a great pub, good food and cold beer.

Funny you mentioned that Bignuggs, have you noticed since this story s few weeks later there are So called BIG FINDS in sandstone!! I think tourism and locals have this covered.

Gold does strange things to people, it does seem fishy that she hasn't been found yet.

In NZ Greymouth area in 2010, a 71 year old prospector disappeared, his car was by the river where he crosses to his claim, rumour has it that the cops found $30,000 worth of gold in the car, the question really lies what did happen to him, was he working his claim and find a rich vein and had a heart attack, or did it cave in on him, or was there foul play, someone followed him....... no one knew where he had the claim, there was no closure for the family, one feels sorry for them.... so you can imagine what her family is going through...

Interesting that this new find is 30km from their original campsite as I understand it.

I heard on the news that something was found but nothing more since, anybody have any clues as to what they were talking about?

It's a pretty tough school in here. I've been to the site of all this many, many times. The last trip we saw an amazing amount of evidence as to how much ground, and how thoroughly, the police had searched the area. If there's nothing to find, there's nothing to find - but they certainly have had a good crack at looking. I also contacted the investigation team regarding a couple of things we came across while camped there and they were absolutely keen for any information.
For those of you who haven't been out there, there's literally millions of acres of bush. I'm not surprised they are struggling to find anything. Also not surprised some things have been found off the road, a fair way away - makes sense. There's a vast amount of country to hide things if you want, and if you're clever it's likely it may never be found. Let's hope whoever is involved has made a mistake or two.
So, my feelings are with the family, and I wish the Police every chance of success in what is really a "needle in a haystack" job.

Yup and in the end it really all comes down to lookin after ya own self, things aint changed in gold diggin since 1851.

Couple of long rants here. While we all like to tell a long story or even have a whinge at times, it doesn't help with this story.
We don't know the full story and there appears to be more to come.
If you have some information that helps in the investigation, then tell the Police.

I think everyone needs to step back from this. Let the Police do their job.
As you say, "I could be charged with interfering in a ongoing police investigation", do you really need that ??
Let it go, let the Police do their stuff, we all want to know what happened and we need to know it won't happen again.

some good points you raise eddie, seems there are plenty of money for K9's on the force that are trained to sniff out drugs.

Fair question indeed LE and no doubt most would agree with ya.
One thing that always has to be kept in mind concerning such incidents
is the Family members and the affect any public comments could have
on them, be it the WAPOL search or hearsay BS that always does the rounds
whenever this happens.
So we ask that the Family's feelings be considered foremost when posting
on what seems to be a yearly problem with diggers gettin lost..

I have my own personal thoughts on this one in particular, but i wont be posting them thoughts due to the reasons above.

Settle down Eddie. Passion for a particular subject is one thing, but attacking another forum member or members is something else.
It will just leave you wide open and the members here will let you know how they think.
