a dealers point of view

with detectors being made more simplistic in their design and their clever way of using existing moulds to manufacture there next line of detectors to cram their technology into so were r we now heading..

I know most of u don't give a rats about me but thought I'd share a point of view.

u don't need a new curly cord
head phones
spare shafts
5 different coils to b sure
fancy covers to keep yah machine clean.
expensive batteries that u double up on --just in case.
external speakers
power boosters
GPS units
fancy harnesses some even with water bottles..
most guys have a spoon
nearly everyone has a pick

so the next step must b turning me shop into a hardware depot
we will have
post hole augers to dig some deep holes.
20 litre motorised buckets so u can bring back that welcome stranger.
6' crow bars
selection of shovels 3' to 6'
dynamite-yep the stuff u blow things up with.

so maybe this will be the end of the humble dealer coz with each new generation detector that hits the market u wont need a dealer..whether its a whites, garret, nokta whatever..

one good thing is we have a good supply of tyres on hand and we do mechanical repairs to your humble vehicle for when u return from prospecting..

I was thinking that myself. But we'll always need all the stuff you've mentioned plus, GPS, boots, smelting gear, dolly pots, pans, sluices, retorts and crushers. There's a whole heap of stuff you can sell. And there's always my new "The Wedge" range of black lace detecting outfits, with suspender belt, stockings and the thigh high, patent leather, 8 inch heel detecting wellies.

If you do all that workshop stuff, do you welding up rear suspension mountings, rebuilding new shock absorber pins, snapped shockies, welding fractured air filter housings, replacing worn through prop shaft bolts, smashed side panels by an rogue emu with no brains (well he hasn't got any now 'cos they're all smeared across the road 30 kms out of Leonora!), Nissan king pins, cracked gearbox mount plates, broken electric fuel pump mountings, snapped wheel studs and broken wiper linkages? Cos if you don't then I'll have to do 'em meself! What a flamin' mess that truck is in and all done in only one season!!

as far as trucks go, I know how u feel---I have an old Fiat and the gearbox needs a complete overhaul-syncrose - bearings etc but cant find anyone to do it, no one can get the spare parts..yep she is old..

yeah we can fix your poor truck--hope u r loaded from the sound of the defects u need to b..

u would have shaken the mrs 2 valuable assests of her chest at that speed..no wonder u r wearing her dresses and shes wearing the pants..u need to go to spec savers when putting clothes on---I would hate u to put the bra on outside of your dress..   geez hope u got some feathers for the hat?

Don't know about Karratha but Blackrock in South has tumble weeds blowing through there these days, was jam packed Oct/Nov.

Their online pricing is $52 per night - less 10% if you join there " Group "

$47 ish x 7 = $329

sometimes they offer better rates for 4 weeks or more

usual maximum stay is 3 months .....

And you might find it doesn't include the price of power.
I know about 30 years ago in Karratha LIA caravan park, it was about $45 a week site fees but power was the killer if you ran your air conditioner and you had to run your aircon in a caravan at night.
Ok, that was 30 years, but I don't think Karratha has changed much when it comes to charging for rent, power and water.

Move with the times ? bugger me, it was costing close to $250 a week back then and top wages at the Burrup was about $700 for 7x12 hour shifts.
And Ray doesn't drink much so his fridge will be bloody empty

oneday - interesting comment on the move to "simplicity of design". I have a CTX and the similarities to the gpz are obvious. I could quite happily move around the menu structure.
I wonder though, how many people will be happy to have less settings to play with to tweak that extra bit out of the machine. However, saying that, 40% extra depth is probably going to kill the need for the next 5 years to want to tweak.
