Any comments on the X-TERRA 705
I have an opportunity to get the X-TERRA 705 very cheap but was wondering if anyone could comment on the performance of this machine. I have the 5000 but was wanting a machine for off season detecting for coins/treasure.

Re: Any comments on the X-TERRA 705
Yesterday I picked up the 705 for a bargain basement price. It is new, still in box and everything was still sealed in the plastic bags. When seeing it I was a little concerned as there has been some talk of cheap knock offs so I rang minelab to confirm everything. Everything was on the level. I nearly tore my pocket getting my wallet out. Now I've got to learn how to use it

Gday Craig
Found the sweet spot on the 705 10"x5" DD Ellip "Black" coil is directly at the front of the Minelab sticker, not at the actual outer edge due to the windings bein inset a good cm from the coil case outer edge
Did some recent tests while in Vic last week with my lady's 705 at Daylesford on some old Mullock and could easily pick 1/2 gram at 4" and 1.5 grm at 8" after that it fell off dramatically and made me wince.
Basically sayin choose your ground in accordance with the 705's capabilities and that goes for any detector be it a wizz bang 5k or a Dick Smith special
Found the 705 to be totally at home on shallow ground from "6 down to bedrock/clay", was really zippy then.
Good luck and go get some

Thanks for the tip Crazy One. I am yet to buy a DD for it and was considering the 10 X 5.
