Lets talk GPS

First topic message reminder :

This is in the wrong section but I'll move it later. I'm no expert with a GPS coz I never use the sod of a thing.
To answer a question that has been put to me, "How do you record a location in Metric" and not Lats & Longs.
I'm no expert with a GPS but I have looked at my Oregan 550 and I can change how it reads. I think it means, if I mark a waypoint, it will show in metric. I think that's what it has done coz that is what it is showing. It's not showing Lats & Longs.
I've probably just answered my own question but if someone asks for metric readings, can I trust the GPS ?

just found a gps in a 80 series I am goin to sell--trouble is its an oldy--garmin gps126--no download power cable--no manual--any brilliant ideas how to resurect..

here is the garmin site for that GPS. The manual and software can be downloaded from this page, you will see them on the right. But personally I would simply pay the $100 or so for a new Etrex.

60 pages to download--I reckon I would have to fell all the trees in ktown ..
still haven't made my mine up on what I am goin to buy but will buy something..maybe will wait for the Caravan and Camping Show in Perth and fly down for the weekend.

it can be saved as a PDF onto your computer but like ya say, it's old, so maybe time for a new GPS.

I bought an Etrex 10 on Ebay recently. I only wanted something to direct me back to camp. I would have preferred the Etrex 20 or 30 but the price was right for this one.
If you are at the show on the Sunday or Monday drop into the Winnebago stand or should I say the AVIDA stand as they will now be called and say hello.
