Pressure cooker stew
Below is a basic recipe for a stew. I use gravy beef because it has plenty of flavour. Also, I like to dice and vacuum pack the meat at home to cut down on preparation time and mess.
Pressure Cooker Stew
· Diced stewing meat (allow about 250grams per person)
· 1 can of diced tomatoes
· 1 large chopped onion
· Vegetables (potatoes, carrots, celery, parsnip/turnip/swede)
· Flavouring (optional). Salt, pepper, Oxo cube, Gravox, whatever. Experiment a bit with these.
· Combine the meat, tomatoes and chopped onion in the pressure cooker.
· Add a little water, bring up to pressure and cook for 10 to 15 mins.
· Release pressure and add the veges.
· Bring back to pressure and cook for a further 7 to 8 mins
· Release pressure and stir in your flavour of choice
Note: Pressure cookers do cook quite quickly and it is easy to overcook things. Experiment a bit with times.
Finally, if there is any stew left over from dinner (very doubtful), it is even more delicious warmed up on toast next morning.
