Hi Guys,
This is probably a tired old question, can someone refresh my memory how to transfer waypoints from Google Earth to Ozi Explorer.
Did it last year and I can't remember how I did it, doing my head in.
Heading to Cue again Thursday for five days
Regards Peter

G'day Pete, To save waypoints in google earth and wack them into ozi ya need to save them as a KML file, then load them up in ozi. that easy mate.

Cheers

"How to transfer waypoints from Google Earth to Ozi Explorer ?"

In GE, save the waypoints as a kml file onto your desk top. To do this, highlight the kml file in GE and then go to SAVE then SAVE PLACES AS. It usually tries to save it as a kmz file - there is an option SAVE AS TYPE down the bottom - change it to kml instead of kmz.

Remember where you saved it to !

Open Oziexplorer. On the tool bar at the top, open the drop down menu LOAD. Down the bottom of this, you will see IMPORT GOOGLE EARTH (kml) FILE - click on this. Now go to the kml file you saved somewhere and double click on it. It will now open the waypoints in Ozi (could be a few seconds delay if it's a large file)

Save it to the WPT FILE before closing.

Thanks Jigalong,
Now I have a couple of options
Last time I thought I had a winner for Mt Magnet, when I got there nothing came up, I was a tad p-----ssed off.
This bloody technology is fantastic, but can mess with an old farts head, Hahaha!
Goldstalker, I changed the files to KML and loaded on Ozi, so will see what happens and just to be safe I'll do what Jigs suggested, not that I don't trust what you have kindly suggested!

Pete,

I was Cue last week (and Wiluna and Gidgee before that)with a heap of prospects I had found on GE. Most turned out to be clay pans, rabbit burrows etc, but there was a few interesting ones I bush bashed my way to.

Checking out GE is half the fun !

Jigssy,
You are right it is fun on GE, it's like a lucky dip,
most of the graphics are outdated 2006
That's half the fun, those places that show up are probably covered with scrub now, but that's the challenge, could get that patch mate that no-one has been to for years.
Happened not long ago to me, went on a track, thought this looks ok, found about eight peices, thought I was on a roll but didn't find any more, the adrenalin was running there for a while though.
