Gpz trial
G'day all quick report on zed. Had a crack with one for two hours or so on a recent patch I found with the 5. The gold was all pretty small in the patch and very bad noisy ground.
So was pretty surprised to see a few nuggies come up (16) for a weight of 6 grams. Nothing major but hopefully more to come.
Ran zed in high yield/difficult, auto gb, sensitivity 9, audio smoothing off.
It is a temperamental unit when you try to ramp settings up in very hot ground.
What I saw did impress me but the true test is deep ground with good targets at depth.
So I'm 50/50 atm.

Re: Gpz trial
Heya fellas. Bout to head off for another crack. The sdc may well have pinged em but can't get an sdc to test it.
From the little I've seen so far is that zed doesn't like mineralisation much. But I suppose you can run it with very low sensitivity and have audio smoothing turned on etc to the detriment of target responses.
It picks up hot rocks frequently too. Well it does in this spot.
When we tried to increase zeds power it went way too erratic. Put it this way the 5 ran far more stable with settings running almost maxed out using fine gold soil timing. Will try a few things today.

Re: Gpz trial
G'day, nah toad in kal now. Just got back in and got about 28 small nuggets for just under 9 grams, the deepest was a .08 at 8 inches which was easily picked up. We were still getting em but way too hot out there.
Tried a couple things and found that high yield/difficult was easily the best combo on this gold.
We tested out audio smoothing in low again but ramped sensitivity from 9 to 15 over a target. The signal response was far more easily heard. We continued with this setting and although zed was erratic when we got a target you would hear it very clearly.
We got several bits in ground we detected yesterday too. Tiny nuggets but we got them this time.
This patch produced a lot of small gold and if there were deep large targets both zed and 5 missed them. I don't believe there is any biggies there.
So from what I saw in that ground the zed killed the 5 easily.
It is a temperamental tector in very hot ground when you try to go for more sensitivity. You can run it very stable for sure but then I doubt we would've got all the bits we did.

I'm still waiting for Reeds to give me the call for mine, they assure me I'll have it for Easter, hopefully it will have cooled down a bit by then too

Re: Gpz trial
The only thing i have bought in the colour blue lately to give Goldstrijk a run for his money is a new Yamaha road-trail, because armed with his sdc2300 and GPZ7000, Im going as far away from him as I can.

Re: Gpz trial
I will need to do a bit of circle-work on the bike just so I can get my detector to go an extra 40% deeper.
Might do it in the middle of camp so I to don't have to walk/ride far??
Ah yes, the bogan burnout has its uses
