Bday finds
Got together with banjo yesterday and headed out to a remote spot I know of for a bit of a swing. The area had previously been illegally pushed and scrapped by a few locals.
So got out the 2300 and gave it a go with a total of 5g for me and only 2.4 for Darren.
A good day out in the Pilbara heat.
With my total for the day, my total with the 2300 to date is 101g and 2 small species Its paid for it self quicker than my 5000 did.

Re: Bday finds
Fitting that the gold honors went to Terry today
It was a great day as usual, well done mate !
The early start helped but it was damn hot, i brought a Camelbak to try and stay hydrated but still need to drink more, i had to pull up to a shade tree and have a rest at one stage , never had to do that before.

The Gold looks bigger than missed 5000 bits ?
Or is it ??
Much junk in that lot ?

The bits are anything from .01 to 4g found on both old patches and new ground Ive been exploring. Depth up to about 100mm.
I would say its about 50/50 mix whether the 5000 would have picked them up or not.
As you know your coil has to be over it to detect it and the machines only as good as the operator.

Re: Bday finds
We hit the beach again tonight in Hawaii. It's great to see the SDC doing well in the goldfields because Sandra threw it back in the boot tonight. It's too noisy for a public place without the earphones so today she put them on. Unfortunately it was impossible to use with earphones because you just can't shut it up.
Perhaps there's something we're doing wrong in the setup but I don't think there's much you can do. The beach was a little difficult. I had to turn up the discrimination and reduce the sensitivity on the ATX to get it to run silently and usually it's no trouble. But saying that it was able to be easily adjusted.
When we get home I'll have to spend some time with it to find out what's going on. You have a threshold adjustment but that should be able to reduce it to a slight hum. This thing just chatters too much to get near finding the threshold. It does a frequency scan on startup and it doesn't seem to take a normal ground balance? Beyond that it doesn't seem to have much to adjust. We used Salt-1 simply because that was as quiet as it would go?
