Karratha--Fastest growing town in WA
Well its official --Karratha is the fastest growing town in WA with an annual growth of 8.2%
however befor u jump in ya FJ holden wagon and head up here just take into account --
A piece of concrete at the caravan park will cost u $350.00 per week
A 3 bedroom house to lease will set u back about $1200,00 per week with expenses..
Fuel is $1.69 per litre and gas is about $1.20
Bread in coles is $1.00
etc etc..
So befor u come here wanting to work in the mines --there are no mines in Karratha--the mines are outback and all of those vacant jobs are advertised on line.
There are major companies in town so best to ring them and see what they have to offer..
everyone is welcome but do ya homework.
Regards

even at $1.69 best to fuel up the long range tanks in K-town dont get caught short and spanked by the roadhouses.

Re: Karratha--Fastest growing town in WA
$1.69 isn't too bad...over Sydney you can pay $1.60 without a blink of an eye...$350 for a slab at the van park is a bit rich though! ....in the paper today they are saying there are tons of out of towners living on the streets in Kalgoorlie trying to find work etc.....seems people do as you say, pack up the ol FJ and just head on over without any prior planning .....im sure its just as easy to be broke and out of work in Kal as it is anywhere else...problem is the rumours of massive paying jobs "in the mines" for people with no experience run rampant in places like NSW...so the dummies or the desperate do as you say...pack up and come on over & now it seems they are just living on the streets

Re: Karratha--Fastest growing town in WA
the easiest way to get a job is via the internet and i strongly recomend that system coz sittin on the streets will bring u grief..
Its generally easier if u have a Perth address..
But hey dont be scared to have a go..
Get a WA Country Taxi license and u can work for me..PM please..

Only 1200$ a week for a 3 bedder, why so cheap
Hey Ray-ive heard rents and prices are cooling down there in k-town, any truth to that??
On a side note, ive had to buy 2L of milk at the servo once here in Hedland-6.70$-what a bargain

Re: Karratha--Fastest growing town in WA
As far as rents go they are relatively stable around that figure--its only the top end on the market thats taken a hit--houses that were 2300 r now 1600 but the pilbara goes in waves,,
steady as she goes...
Thats what u pay for and its called convience Chad.
