don't ya it. I run Kaspersky internet security, damn good gear, until last night. new version came out and I had to renew the license which isn't cheap, well $70 for 2 years so it;s not to bad.
the new version downloads and wham, it f**ks my hard drive. more money down the drain, $120 for new drive while I wait and see if they can repair the f**ked one and thats gunna cost me another $70.
so out comes my old lap top and I hate it. Ya need a magnifying glass to read it.
I'm sure the house ghost is trying to piss me off Razz

I got kaspersky on my computer when i got it, 1st thing i did was piss it orf, we all want no virus's but that
damb program is over the top, i couldnt even blink without it wanting something or stopping me from
doing what i wanted so out it went 2 yrs ago and since then ive been running free Avast AV,
and never had a problem since, besides that i run Spybot search n destroy, and Ad-aware both free...

I'm a firm believer that the large companies that create the anti viral codes also create most virus's
to keep the money rolling in for subscription updates. Suspect Suspect

HI Bignuggs,
Hard drive can not be damaged by installing software.
Maybe you lost the data on it?? Or you couldn't log in again?
Send me a Pm and i might give you few solutions you can fix it up and running in a few minutes.

Changing a topic slightly few things i learn about pc:
Its not if but When your hard drive will die
So one of the most important things is to back up your data (if you have any valuable info on hard drives)
If you use pc just to surf then no big loss.

When i first build my pc my hard drive died after 3 months.(just happened)
Yes i got a new one as replacement but it was pain to install again all staff.
(Since then i reformat my pc every few months but i spend more time now on my new gold detecting hobby)

As suggested by other members free programs will do the job, even tho some of the people get too paranoid about security on their PC.
together with spybot and free virus program i also find CC cleaner very useful. Goggle under crap cleaner.

I have my internet connection for last 7 years with Westnet (see i support your WA) and for $20 a year they screen for any virus with the latest definitions for everything you download.

You might think that Russians are ruling the cyber space but Korean would give them run for money any day (or night).

went to computer mob, they want to rebuild the computer. Apparently they can't just clear the hard drive, so they say. So this old fart said stuff that.
After a lot of stuffin around and a 6packplus, I got the bugger to work, how I did it I have no idea. it was all trial and error.

But this is reminding me of another outfit (AVG, I'll probably get sued here for saying this) who had a faulty download some years back and ignored the complaints. I had every virus & trojan known to man make it's home in my computer (it F**ked it good) and I had to buy new and start again.

Looks like this mob, the big "K" have done the same thing.
It won't let me uninstall it or repair it and if I do, it stuffs things up again.

Buyer beware, damn right. do I love computers, NO EFFING WAY.
