I see a scumbag on another show trying to undermine the markets here in australia
trying to make a quick buck at the expense of aussie dealers selling 5000.

This brings me to the point maybe tectors should be color coded for each country--
diferent color on the word 5000. this would enlighten everyone of what these scum bags are doin.

be warned..

Heard last night that there are no 5000's available for a couple of weeks. Believe they are upgrading security. Some sort of hologram so they can be identified ? (Then you'll know where they came from) Very Happy
Also heard they may have a tracking device so they can find them, which sounds good but if they can do that they can find your "x" spots too. scratch
Geoff at Reeds Prospecting could tell you more if you are interested.
Cheers,
Zap.

I would be surprised if non of the dealers had any detectors left! hopefully not as my mate is buying a 5000 in the next couple of days!

I very much doubt there would be trackers used, for one the interference from the cell transmit side of it would not be positive for the detector , RF is a noise beast when it comes to cell transmit with data.

Similar thing happened with the 4500's when the Sudanese rush started, no dealers where getting
any from Minelab, why not ??? most blokes had there suspicions why not...

There's one thing for sure, if my 5k has to go back to Minelab for a recall service for some security upgrade
and it turns out like most 2200's did when they where returned i' wont be to bloody happy.
I'll be running the 5k into the ground before i send it in. Razz Razz

but in all honesty, i have only had one problem with any of my Gpx's, and that was the 4k, the screen went bunk
and all i could see was a bar code type screen view, was fixed and the cause was the shitty cheap plastic
push button power switch, since then all Gpx's have had the steel toggle switch, and if you dont have one
on your 4000 send it in for the free conversion to the steel one..

Ray,

If they are coming from a foreign country, would it be fair to assume all the printing and rear screen would be in the language of that country?
