SDC2300 batteries
This might be of some interest to those with an sdc2300.This seems to prevent it from restarting when it is hit against something or dropped.I have been using it like this for a couple of weeks and havent had a restart since.
I have put some springs in between the batteries of my sdc2300 to keep contact between them when they bounce when knocked against something.
The springs are from an old aa battery box i had lying around.Just need to cut them a bit shorter and ensure they are a snug fit on the battery post.

Yes this almost fixes the problem. The real problem comes from the poor original manufacture and then the failure of the selling dealer not attending to it before the customer having to solve the problem. We bought ours from The Prospectors Pick in Bunbury and they taped the batteries right there and then and explained the problem. At least then when it played up we knew what the problem was.

Just be careful with the tape. It's really difficult to get them out in the field if the tape is too thick and if it's not thick enough the detector restarts every time it gets bumped.

Re: SDC2300 batteries
Yes a bit of tape on each end or a 40 mm wide bit of gaffer tape. Don't double the tape or the batteries will get stuck.
