Cheap Gaitors

With summer apon us and the thought of snakes lurking around I was wanting a bit of protection from the knees to the ankle .Gaitors on ebay not too cheap so came up with a cheaper option.Sourced a smaller size wellington boot at a garage sale for $2 and chopped them off at the ankles. With the piece chopped off I simply slide foot into same and they now act as gaitors.

That's not a bad idea. How do they go. I would have thought being made from wellies ya legs would sweat a bit.
I was actually thinking of getting some made from suede leather, I only wear shorts and maybe the suede would soak up the sweat a bit.
I got a pair made of poly material but I think an angry snake would go right thru them if I ran into one of them happy little slithering buggers.

Last time I was in WA I saw a guy with two large plastic orange drink containers with top & bottom cut out and he slipped one on each leg!! Very innovative but not one for the fashion conscious

Wish I had a photo of my outback gaitors,
Bread bags used as socks and a beer carton folded up as shin guards to stop the spinifex,
shorts and thongs days
Now it is shorts and gum boots to stop the spinifex, they work a bit better.

For those creating their own gaiters if you wear elastic sided boots make sure you add protection there as well.
