$150.oo for ancient technology, with a modern price, considering an ounce of gold was US $20.67 in 1905,

1fitty was 7.5ounces = a lazy 10 grand today, makes a gpx5k look cheap. Suspect

Just wondering if it works on the same principle as a nugget in hand & a bronze rod.

I was a sceptic till I was shown

How it works scratch

i know someone who has a small nugget that he found in the area he is working glued on the shaft just above the coil on his 5k, it wont scream at ya on a PI because it doesn't move. he reckons gold attract gold and gives you a better clearer signal that tunes itself to the local gold. I havnt tried this yet but looks like it follows the same principal, i will take some araldite with me next trip and IF i find something give it a go.

upon closer inspection, the glass tube on the shaft is apparently filled with apparent gold dust,

could be worth its weight in gold considering what it was originally worth Suspect
