Be interesting to see how every one went over the long weekend.Hopefully they had fine weather as it was not too bad in the metro area.Diesel owners may have had a few problems in sourcing fuel.Have to wait for the posts now.

Another bit of scare mongering Cruiser.
The panic merchants would have been filling the bath tub with diesel.

the missis and I got away for the weekend after a bit of a late start
(alarm set on weekdays)  jkihyig went up to warriedar for a look around had a great weekend the weather was cool no wind and no flies but a few midgies with the standing water around.
caught up with a lease holder had a good yarn and checked out his operation what a top bloke.
got a rattle in the jar with Sheryl pinged one and I got 2 all small ones but got to admit we didn't put much time in swinging, to busy checking out the area, drinking beer and cooking steaks on the campfire  Very Happy
called into the warriedar homestead for a look around on the way home, CALM have taken over the station and left the homestead to fall apart, a volunteer organisation track care WA have stepped in and put in a heap of work to restore the old place and it is open to the public to stay, camp if you want for free not a bad option if you are working the area

cheers Tom

Sounds like a great week end Tom.Just to get away from the rat race has got to be a bonus in itself.Good also you got a couple bits even though small they all count.Do you know what the set up is with Calm for staying at there stations,is a booking necessary or simply rock up and hope for the best?.

Cheers

You can stay on warriedar any time Phil, trackcare use it as lot and have done a lot of work -new pit toilets etc-no water so take plenty-there were about 25 caravans there this weekend with the Mitsubishi 4wd club- and as Tom said the midgies were vicious-I was way north of the homestead around my usual haunt and saw two very large brown snakes so stay alert-dragon

Hi Purple Dragon,

Our last trip I was searching for high AU values along the rabbit proof fence out the back of Curtis's Find and I was making a dry creek crossing and needed a rock to build up the bank so I could get up the bank

In the middle of the creek there was two large rocks I had already bent over to pick one up with arms outstretched and this darn snake decided to crawl back into his hole

He obviously had already seen me and thought better of it, all I saw was black and cream scales with a criss cross pattern...the rock stayed there!!!

Gotta be so carefull!!!

Gday Flouro-that sounds like a spotted mulga snake ,that would have done you some damage if you had him cornered,I reckon minelab should put a special frequency in their machines to piss the hell out of midgies and snakes-and bungarras and bullants-anybody else got anything to add to the list before i ring minelab -dragon

It's so weird but when I'm out prospecting for some reason my detector sometimes goes off when I get near a tree or bush, and when ever I have looked up there's always a spider in the way, I reckon it's me guardian angel warning me not to walk under it. But before I walk away I always push the detector over the spot just in case, and nothing there but the spider.

Cheers

Peaky keep them coming bro! Had to sit out last weekend, plastic (maxed at the mo)
I know where there is a local spot for Yabbies... Hey Cloggsie! Like fish'n in a barrel...

I'm just charging batts at the moment and planning a trip east, a bit closer to town where the pickings are a bit slimmer but less of a trek behind the wheel for a short weekender.
