A few years ago I made my own Hipstick , it did the job however somewhere along the line I lost the belt clip and have been unable to find a replacement. (Originally picked the clip up in Bunnings, but its no longer a stocked item) Wandering through  Masters (Joondalup) today and came across a "Tool Lasso" by Werner

for less than $10 I'm ready for this detecting season.

So, if you want to make your own hipstick or need a spare belt clip, check it out.

I've been using these clips for a few years now and they work great. Luckily our local hardware stocks them for about $8. Only problem is the small black ball that comes with them wears out too quickly. Fixed that a couple of months ago. Docked the end off an old green screwdriver handle in the shed and shaped it up a bit. works a treat and looks like it will well and truly outlast the black balls.
cheers
