Yep Robert , hes on to it , forget the headache , bush way , it goes like this , proved it many times ...
STEP 1 .depending on the size of the speci tie cotton or anchor rope around the speci & submerse the thing into fresh water & have an accurate scale to measure its weight , note it & times that by 3.1
STEP 2 weigh the gold speci on your scale in air like normal , then times that weight by 1.9
STEP 3 take away the smaller weight from the largest weight & that will tell the gold weight only in that speci

true story , comes down to a gramm ... ironstone , quartz the variables ,
close enough if you are partners doing a split anyway , albo.
