Solid skidplates for NF coils
I know you can now buy solid skid plates for some of the NF open-web coils but they are quite dear.
This is what I do to give my 12" Advantage mono a solid base
1.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Using some 1mm thick "Lexan", I cut out a blank that is about 2" bigger and silicone it to the existing skidplate.
I then turn it over and place weights of some kind-usually 5 litre oil containers-on each side and leave it for about 24 hours depending on the temp.
2.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I then trim the excess with a stanley knife
3.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I then apply a bead of silicone to the top inside profile to keep out the dust.
4. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
The finishing touch is two layers of "Tessa" tape around the edge starting at the back.
The "Lexan" with last for ages.
You'll have to look around for the "Lexan" as I get mine from my brother-in-law who got it fron an auction years ago
Hope this helps
Robert

Hi Goldnomad,
Thanks for posting about Lexan.
I have seen some of the coils done with lexan and they look great and last forever.Have not tried to do myself yet but might do one day thanks to your photos.
Thanks
