People and their dogs
Thort I'd just throw this out there, as we do tend to get attached to our pets. It's amazing how dogs (sometimes cats or even budgies) get into ya life and it's always sad when they are gone.
So if ya got a pic of ya pet, put it up.
I'll start it with some of mine.
This is Boof number 3 (boof=boofhead) but boof for short . number 1 was poisoned by some mongrel but I got no photo's of that dog. Collies, loyal and protective dogs. Number 1 was my dog and he protected me, No. 3 was really my sister's dog and he protected her. Number 3 was lost by WA Railways, or so they say but we never saw him again.
Boof number 2. An insane Red Cloud Kelpie would jump a 6 foot fence so it could go to school with with me.
A nice friendly dog but totally NUTS
Andy, yep another Collie, was more my fathers dog. Brilliant animal. Big, strong, and protected my father with his life and never stood back from anyone or anything until the end of his days.
After that lot and through the years, I had a Golden Retriever that had a screw loose and a Kelpie Bull Terrier cross that took on a road train and lost sad to say.
Then there is old Ginny. When Andy was gone, I just had to get another Collie. Found this poor little girl, runt of the litter. When she was 8 weeks old she was so small she sat in the palm of my hand. I couldn't resist it, she deserved a chance at life. Gone now but a loyal little dog.
But this is the best. This Irish Wolfhound, protected my niece when she was just a toddler. Where ever she went that dog was there with her.
So There's a start. Sad to say, I miss these dogs. They were good friends if you can call a dog a friend, and my answer to that is, YES YOU CAN.

Re: People and their dogs
great pics Cliff, they sure are a friend. they would die for ya in an instant. brings back memories of the dogs i have owned or known over the years, breaks your heart to see them go but i wouldn't trade the memories for any amount of gold. I will have to dig out some pics.

Left Hook
Right Jab to the jaw
End result
Believe it or not, this dog and cat were best of friends.

Re: People and their dogs
beautiful pics Cliff, we had two collies in the 70's both got parvo virus at around 13 yrs old. they are great dogs, very loyal. I then got a smart German shepherd had her for 9 yrs but she had genetic hip disease and we had her put down. next came "dusty" a red cloud kelpie (old age), and Gem a bitsa. now its bell and tinka. always had dogs, always will I guess.

My Partners Jack Russel
We had her to sleep on 13th July 2013 she suffered Liver and Kidney failure probably from the Chemotherapy medication she had been on for the past 6 years. Her Name "Toessa" father was Toby, mothers name Tessa hence the very original name. she lasted 17 years and was a fantastic sheep dog (no joke) and guard dog. Mary and I miss her terribly

Re: People and their dogs
sorry to hear about it hanson but 17 years is a good innings. this will sound hard hearted but, I have always missed losing my dogs more than I have losing a rellie.
I think it has a lot to do about loyalty, and being human our loyalties do change.
Give me a good dog anytime.
just my opinion.

Re: People and their dogs
Great Pics Guys!! I have had a few dogs over the years but these two have been the best by far.
This guys name was Jebb, who sadly passed away at about 11 yrs old.
He was a Kangaroo dog X Greyhound, and could run like the wind.
This fat little staffy is Sadie.
She would have to be the most loyal dog I have ever had,
but also the bossiest and most bad tempered

gees, sadie is a fattie lol. I love staffies, they are the biggest sooks around, great pics Evan. I found a roo dog lost in collie last year, skinny as living in the bush for over 2 months. we found her owners and all were reunited again, she didnt know us at all but strolled up to our car and sat down waiting to get in she had an absolutely beautiful temperament. so glad we found her and got her home safely.
