What's goin on ?

I answered a post on another forum with this question?
I have had my 5K for about two years
Nearly every trip this happens
I switch it on and the sound is all garbled and muted
Switch it off and sometimes restart up to three times before it comes good
Last time this happened, I checked the rear panel and the screen was blank, touched the selector knob and it came good, faulty selector????

My 5k did that just 3 days ago, switched it on and off several times till it came good, maybe they just get a bit of dust in em after a few years, Stu

HI Guys ,
I have just got my GPX 5000 back from minelab for the second time in two months . First time I switched it on and had no sound & no screen, gave it a tap on the side with my knuckles & it came good . worked good for the rest of the trip .
Sent it to MINELAB & they re-soldered two wires. ( cold joints ).

Second time I Went to Sandstone & it worked good for five days , next day I turned it on & had dull tinny sound & no screen . Turned it off & on again, third time all good .
Rang MINELAB & sent it over . They said it could be the FLEX PC . They replaced the FLEX PC . ( I think it is between the main board & switch ) .

I have to wait now for the next trip and hope it all works OK.

Hey Charlie,

hope it all works out for you mate, mine played up for a while after i got caught out in the rain was doing a simmilar thing, turned it on and off a few times and it came right  seems to have dryed out and works fine now.
