Jase (used to be a newbie) is still out in the scrub hunting the good stuff and having a ball, lucky bugger. He sent this pic to me this arvo to post for him.
He was attacked by a caterpillar Suspect , so he tells me Razz Shouldn't laugh, the foot don't look nice. Looks like he has his foot in his jocks lol!

I'll have to ask him for more pics, especially of that type of caterpillar. I remember as a kid, we were always told to stay away from the buggers they called "spitfires".
Not the usual caterpillar, the spits used to be found in clumps (probably 50 or more hanging on a tree branch, like a lump on top of each other) or travelling head to bum in a line up to a metre long and no one went near them.

spitfires that's there name ....was racking my brain trying to remember....little bastards had these little clumps of barbs on their backs and if you touched them with a stick they would retract(prob stupid for doing that but never got stung luckily!) my wife heard the story of the killer cat and did a little research and is now jumping at shadows everytime she see's a moth lol(the bad cats can also be bad moths....they said don't touch the brown moths! lol) but in the end that seemed like a pretty severe allergic reaction.....wonder if they told hi to keep an epi pen on him incase it happened again?

There are tiny little caterpillars in the Top End mangroves that cause welts, a rash and excruciating pain too. They are only 4 or 5mm long but pack a punch. Itchy grubs.
