caravan refurb
Stuff it --got all excited today 15-4-13 and decided to strip and fix the mobile home we all call a caravan..
A young fella from around the corner started today --will call him THE RUNT--out came the power points, lights and even the old fridge have all bitten the dust..the ceiling panels--the whole monty..
Left the runt on the job so decided to find a fridge freezer for the van--size matters in this case--600mm is all I have to play with--just enough to slide it in --between the door frame that is--just incase there are some corrupt people out there..of to Retravision and stuff me dead if they didnt have one , even on special $590..delivered tuesday via a trolley through the shopping centre to the workshop...bargain.
Off to the hardware store in the LIA and brought some fly mess--4 meters for $35.00--
Was goin to buy a engle to use as a freezer but could not justify the $1800.00 for a capacity which would only hold
a side of lamb--and the lamb would have to b a skinny bugger at best. So I reckon the fridge freezer from retraverts was a good buy.
The roof of the van is all steel framed so we also got rid of the foam insulation sheets that were jamed in the cavity--might give that insulation they put in houses up here in the north west a go, but I will double it up--got plenty of room..Its a sandwich type of foam material with silver paper either side--looks the part anyway.
will down load some picks tomorrow and show u the mess--sorry progress..
regards

Re: caravan refurb
Looking forward to seeing this oneday!
Nothing like a good re-build thread, especially while we're waiting for pilbarachad to pull his finger out
Don't worry pilbarachad, the joke's on me. I don't have a trailer.
Anyway, where was I?

Re: caravan refurb
well who thought I'd say "let it rain" just finished leak sealing the top of the van so need a bit of water on the roof to see if we have conquered our nemesis...resealed the interior with new insulation --redone the fly screens with new mesh---geez I think we r on a roll..
will try to wire up a couple of 12v interior lights in the van--never know when we might need a bit of light--everything is 240v--cant be too hard--will see.
now hopefully its a run to the finish line coz that young fella Chad is getting to close to comfort in his completion date--

The fact that it took me 17 days to pick up on that comment kinda indicates that business is just cruising along in re-build thread land.

Re: caravan refurb
well me maties she's 99% complete apart from buying another single matress for the second bedroom.
all the panelling has been completed and she is very habitable even slept in the old girl the other night.
have even wired in 12v LED lights in all 3 rooms and spare accessories plugs in all rooms as well.
new fridge in bolted in place the oven got a bloody good clean out and the range hood is in position again..cookin with gas..
the roof was double insulated with that silver coated foam which they put aroud houses these days but found 1 layer wasn't enough so doubled it up.
it would be the only multi colored van in the Australian bush but u wouldn't know it unless u got inside.
even got a battery box were the cupboard used to be--we have sparkles--with 3 air cons on the roof don't know were the solar panels are gona fit..
come on summer
