The last Australian gold rush.

I was corrected by Jonathan Porter a while a go when suggesting on Finders that the Tennant Creek rush of the 1930,s was the last
gold rush in Australia.
He succinctly pointed out that the last rush was the current one the
Electronic one.
So 16 years in and possibly getting to the end of the electronic gold rush as we know it ... where is the book or E book that chronicles the history.
It seems to me nothing records the first flush of success at Wedderburn to the great days in W,A.
As each year goes by more and more of the players pass. This is partly due to the fact that some of the best entered later in life ,
unlike the miss named old timers who where young men at and in their time.

This idea is partly sparked by the loss of ol mate Kurinellie Col . The stories he told of guns and gold and his generosity to me .

Should this chapter and a thousand others be lost because we live in a instant generation.

So I phoned an old journalist mate tonight and he thought the idea had legs, but
suggested I would be the last idiot to make it happen.

He suggested
It should be character driven
There should be a connective narrative.
Laconic or reflective stories would be of most interest.
Nics as in the days of newspaper contributions should be allowed’
Continuity to pull the thing together .
Contributions including pictures .

So what do you think mates ... is this worth while .
And given that ML have driven this amazing latter day gold rush should they sponsor
a history before its lost.
In put please; Cool

This will be cross posted.

Good topic GR Wink
Its a sad but true thing that there's a lot of the modern dayers passing on to the patch, and the tales and knowledge will be gone.
I think it would sell more than some of the re hashed crap that's been goin on since a certain bloke wrote his first edition (4 volumes now of the same crud).
We all know, or knew of, or even are charicatures of the modern rush era..
I give the idea a big 4 jugs aproval The last Australian gold rush. 2225825816 The last Australian gold rush. 2225825816

Totally agree. It may be time for a new book on the market even if it's just a short 2 page story from each person of an area they have been too and their thorts.
