The ironstone relationship

Hi all was hoping to get some help clarifying the relationship of gold and ironstone. Most of the closer fields I get to seem to be more quarts with some ironstone about,
I think I've got a pretty good understanding of the way quarts ( spelt wrong I know but the the right letter isn't working on keyboard! ) is often formed in slate and the whole mineralisation process in there ,then reefs break down liberating gold bearing quarts etc.
when I go to say a field near maryborough it seems more ironstone oriented ,
did this ironstone form separate from the quarts "process"? theres just so much of it about at some places and lots seem to end up as small "buckshot" pellets too ,whats with that?! :?: and some places produce more quarts specis and others more iron specis
any advice or links on how this forms and the gold builds up in it would be fantastic

Lets look at the crust (50 klm) of this planet as a steady cooling ball of Iron
Iron is the Mother and father of minerals, practically every element is found with Iron including gold.
So Iron could be called the "Coagulator" of minerals, and in our case Gold.

"Salt n Pepper' we've all heard the saying " salt is good but better with pepper".
Salt is the Qrtz and Pepper is the Black raw iron, not brown or lightly colored Pisolitic ironstone capping of hills.
You need to follow the Jet Black Pepper brother.
Forget the Qrtz for the time being and follow the Magnetite and BIF (Banded ironstone formation).
Look to the east and west of that shear about 100 - 300 mtrs and follow the water.

Most of the time the indicator is jasper, you can have lots of salt and pepper...no jasper no gold!!

If you wiki jasper there is also many different colours of jasper, i always look for the red jasper but upon reading this i now look for green and brown

Check it out next time on your patch you will see what i meen

In saying that i also have found gold without jasper around but it becomes a brown rock, didn't quite make it to the red colour and not so waxy to feel

Hi Bluedog , its been a while since you posted that one , but anyway it looks like a dark red / brown quartz rock , im a mechanic & not a geo by the way , cheers mate , albo.

The reason that i havn't answered your question is that i stated to look at Wikapedia and look up JASPER, you will get everything you wish for, just push a few buttons

i would have thought it was chrysoprase (something like that) rather than jasper--heap of it leo way..euycalyptus etc..
