nice bit of gold thanks JP for this vid, you can certainly here a difference with the 7k over the 5k on that target. from my understanding the 15*12 mono is good for up to 12 inches deep where its being compared to a 14 inch new tech coil, how would the 5k with a 14 inch round NF mono coil or a 17*11 inch NF mono coil compare? also how would it go in normal timing with gain reduced or autotuned to eliminate the wobble as best you can.

On that nugget at that depth fine gold timing would be the better one. Would've been interesting to see the 5's gain lifted up to say, around 17?

Good clip and nice to see the comparison by someone that knows what they're doing. Should help ease the minds somewhat, of those that have outayed a big wad of cash.

I have no doubt that if that gain was raised to say 17-18 the 5k would have pinged harder than it did, the real question is, would the instability of the 5k ran at such a high gain have masked the weak target with warbling..

My thoughts also CP. The Zed was nice and quiet though.

I watched the vid before you posted and was thinking the same
I know in all the trips we did we had the GPX running flat out to the max we could get
Some times we would need to tame them down as the day went on but as the ground cooled
Up she goes
Even with my 4500 I was hitting the Gain as much as I could with not much problem
The only real bad night we had was a Quick Summer run but the EMI and heat would not let us run above FP
It was January and 45 deg

No not really. I run mine constantly from 18 to 20. Prolly why I don't find anythingCrazyPete wrote:I have no doubt that if that gain was raised to say 17-18 the 5k would have pinged harder than it did, the real question is, would the instability of the 5k ran at such a high gain have masked the weak target with warbling..

I used to run my 4500 flat out or as noisy as I could bear it, but over the last 12 months I've been tending to getting as quiet and as smooth as I can. I have found more, deeper targets since I've been doing this.
