I dont get how some value their lives so little. A tossers can come along during broad daylight and steal your precious items and in some cases your livelihood from your locked vehicle and you cannot shoot the fu$*er in the street no more, what a dull world it is, bring back the old western days, ................................................. DRAW..................................................................  better not get caught at my camp in the bush thats all i can say, some deep shafts about and they wouldnt want to "slip" down one carrying some extra lead would they.

I would have thought that there would have only been 1 or 2 people in the Main Street of Sandstone at one time, I've always felt safe there but obviously you still have to be careful, there are some low life's around who don't deserve to be breathing oxygen.

no worries Pebbles, LOL i will welcome any fellow detectorist that wander into my camp with a nice coldie and a welcoming smile anytime buddy. it the shoddy people that dont want to get caught trying to steal from my camp. its bad enough out there with some trying to jump your patch when your back is turned. camps are generally safe if you're relatively quiet and you dont have loud music and a massive fire every night attracting all sought of vermin to your camp when your out prospecting.
I was raised by a stern father who yielded the rod, taught me that you respect your elders and that respect is earned not given and with an eye for an eye attitude, and I love the old westerns.

I am not saying this was the case in this incident, but I have seen gear laying in full view many times in peoples vehicles, one time at the local shopping centre a troopy was parked up with a detector and coils laying in the back in full view, another time at the local spudshed we walked passed a car that had detector coils laying on the back seat, window down and all, lucky we are honest.

In this day and age where people are such opportunists the simple solution is to make sure fridges are bolted down, and detecting gear is hidden from view, same as leaving cash or coins and phones on the dash etc, many towns like Meeks and Cue have wandering locals that like to smash and grab, if theres nothing to catch the eye then they just keep on walking past.

problem is most foreign vehicle to a town like cue etc are readily recognisable by the locals and locked or not, or having your detector hidden away wont help much as any tourist vehicle is a prime target for these lowlifes. only time its safe is when attended or you have a big dog in the car. last time i was in leonora i went out and checked my vehicle every few minutes whilst waiting for a feed from the pub and spied two fellas taking a look inside through the side window, they scattered as i approached. be vigilant with your gear at all times. but in reality more gear goes missing from in town than at camps sites in the bush. same goes with living in suburbia, way more chance of loosing your gear.

Are there any identifiable features that are "particular" to this machine?, such as modifications or alterations?

I ask this question because I have been offered a couple of these machines to buy, have not seen them but apart from the serial number is there anything else to look out for?
