recent find
got sent a pic from Chris and June who just got back from a trip to " " near " ".
they found a lovely patch totaling 4.5 OZ of some 90 odd nuggets. some lovely bits one around 30 grams. well done guys and shows there is some good gold out there not just tiddly bits as often suggested.
get me excited about the upcoming muster, cant wait to swing the old gal again, and get some detecting time in as well...

Re: recent find
I found the patch with the 5000 running a nugget finder 18 inch mono, I went over it and picked up the bigger pieces then June hit it with the 4500 and 14x9 n.f. Chained a big area and raked sections but ran out of time to do thorough job, a friend who was with us also got a 24 gram 16 gram and 2 1/2 gram from the same patch and then picked up a sun baking specie with about 2 ounces of gold in the same area.

Re: recent find
well done folks--keeps the dream alive for next time--if the gold isn't too deep run the 8" coil over the ground to be sure..

Re: recent find
Well done Shorty, some very nice nuggets there, looking at the size of them I would say that a sadie coil will pick up another hundred or so subgramers that the 14x9 can't get.

Re: recent find
Yes, Congrats Chris & June, you did good.
In Cue CP as we needed to catch up on everything, Picked the right day to come in as it's just started raining.
We got a few sub-grammers every day while out, Just not any biggies or a patch.
Cheers

Thanks guys, can't wait to get back out there with a stronger rake and more energy as for the first week of the trip we had the flu, looks like late September will be the earliest so got to be patient.

Re: recent find
We just arrived home from the muster. It was a really relaxing holiday where the weather was perfect for every day but two. We found a bit of gold but it was a bit more difficult than I expected it to be. We both ended up spending a lot of time sitting by the campfire with a good book, and then another and another. In fact we read more books in these few weeks than we have in all other trips combined. I guess it was because we had no reason to move on. We had only planned to travel as far as Leanora but stretched it to Laverton but never found anything over that way.

love the clunker phil and Sandra, that's a sweet piece.
yep it's hard work this prospecting game, you need to rest up regularly, and it just seems so much harder when there not coming out the ground often.
I've never had the pleasure to kick back for long and soak it up as usually quick less then a week trips so ya gotta go hard and keep walking.
can be more physical then work I reckon and I've been bricklaying for 26 years and worn out I will add.
congrats not a bad return
