WA GeoView System
For those of you who are not familiar with "Geoview", it is one of the Wa Mines Dept online
Mineral Data & Mines mapping systems, it also links up to "Mindex" which is the Wa Mine
and Prospects Data Base, it can be used to search for all mineral deposits not just gold.
It can be set up to also show local Geology, roads, water, towns etc, here is a sample screen
shot showing Kalgoorlie and Bulong to the east.

There is a lot more information that can be added to the search, have a play with it.

Re: WA GeoView System
Thanks for that Pete, I didn't know it existed. I gotta check it out.
Would you know if there is also a data base that shows the fault lines ?
I'm thinking of chasing another airy fairy theory.

Re: WA GeoView System
Hi Pete,
Thanks for putting up the link, I never knew it existed. I had a look at it and downloaded the user guide. it's a handy tool to have but I can't get some of the buttons on the top row to work and it looks nothing like what they show in the user guide.
Do I have to hit a special button ? I think DMP have a tech support line, might give them a call.
cheers

Re: WA GeoView System
Hi Pete
Are you only using Geoview system and not the new Geomap Desktop software [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
This program was made to take the strain of the tengraph system and it's server ,GWA Steven Bandy did do a class on it for the APLA Members earlier this year.
This is a program that you all should use more of to learn to build your own maps with layers.

Hi David
I've mainly been using Ozi with my etrek hooked up & Tengraph so i never bothered to download the Geomap.WA
software.
I've just gone and downloaded it from the Data & Software centre, Link - [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
and also watched the related demo vids, i must spend a bit of time using it cause it looks very interesting
and anything that saves login into Tengraph so much can only be good news..
Ceers for the heads up david

Re: WA GeoView System
Hi Detrack
You have got my interest........
I have loaded Geomap.wa on my computer. I am not sure if this was to load geo maps or not...
So in Roz's fashion, I copied and pasted my topo maps into new project..it worked.
Then I loaded tengraph shape files and old mine sites....it worked.
So far I am very impressed, this is exactly what I wanted to be able to do.
However, I tried to load my 1.100 geo maps that I was given, but for some reason I can not paste then into my Geomap. I was just wondering if they are in another format.
Cheers Roz
I have been burning the midnight oil trying to work it out.
Cheers Roz

Re: WA GeoView System
Hi Roz
Hope you both are keep well and have fixed all those parts on the 4x4.
I would say that you are trying to load a Ozi, OZF2 format
Look at the user Guide page 16 line 6.6 that will show you the formats
6.6 Adding map data or layers
There are two main types of data which can be displayed in GeoMap.WA — Raster and Vector data. Raster data are generally imagery, such as aerial or satellite images. Vector data represent features as points, lines and polygons (areas). Common data files types include *.shp or *.tab file formats.
You can add the following supported formats into GeoMap.WA project.
• ESRI Shapefile (*.shp)
• MapInfo TAB (*.tab)
• TIFF/*.geotiff (*.tif)
• ECW (*.ecw)
• JPEG 2000 (*.jp2)
• JPEG (*.jpg)
• Text data (*.txt, *.csv)
I not you can do it.

Re: WA GeoView System
Keep in mind those from other state you can still use this program for you own state GIS Data.
Now is the time for you all to use it and learn as the weather gets to hot to get out.
