How much do you want to spend?
If you're only going for a week why not just hire a 5000?

Hi Dale

There are 2 main providers in Perth, Prospectors Patch or Reeds Prospecting both in Midland to which could provide you some valuable info before you go. The other in Kal will be Finders Keepers also willing to assist. All 3 hire detectors so it will be your choice of the provider.

Regards Ian

maybe u would like to look at the virtues of a Xterra 705 or a Eureka Gold these machines find a lot of gold the others leave behind--they are very well priced and within your price range and easy to use.

hi dale and stacy ,you mentioned not $6000 for the 5000 to buy ,i don't blame you if you don't do it often . Renting is an option for the latest gear , but if you choose to own a detector that's still in the game id choose a minelab extreme & still a good detector , $1800 up to $2000 , good depth but noisy on some ground compared to the newer 4500 5000 models, that's all mostly .
