Well there you go.
Didn't give us the time of the day last time there, however that was about 4 years ago.
Will never step through their door again, ever.

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience Nightjar.
I have never experienced the same, always had good service and when I was up in Cue and headphones failed, had a pair sent by Reeds and arrivednext day by post.
We all speak as we find.
Lets hope people look and listen and change their ways for the better if neccessary

Yea I was told by him at the show that the 3000`s were only going for $1900 and that there prices had dropped.I was thinking of updating to another new minelab 4800.Thought the price of the 3000 was a bit low but may be I am out of touch with the prices.May be some one else can throw some light on what a 3000 is worth.

cheers

Couple of years ago, someone tried to say a second hand 4500 = $4,500 and therefore a 3000 would be $3,000 but I'm not so sure about that theory.
Nearly everyone wants a 5000 these days which means the older machines should be cheap as chips.
but as we all can see, second hand machines still hold their price.
Example: a GP Extreme, old machine but you should be able to get at least $2,200 minimum, that's my theory but I only got $1,900 for one of my old machines.
a 3000 should go for around $2,200 to $2,400 as they are only a small step up from the EXtreme but if the asking price at reeds is $1,900 I'd be grabbing it providing it worked.
In the end, it's up to the buyer. I think I'd be saving a few more pennies for either a good second hand 4500 or 5000 or even save harder and buy a new 5000

good onya captain, now you got the 5k you will walk away from a patch confident ya got all of the gold out of it.
you won't be leaving to many sub grammers now.
I do all my shopping and hiring at reeds, never had a issue but never really got into many in depth conversations with them either.
I get in, get what I want and get out, just like bunnings, coles etc. bloody everywhere but the pub.
Phil $1900 isn't a bad trade in price as I have seen a 3000 in there shop for $2500 retail. but basic package 1 coil etc but by time someone beats them down a couple hundred or scams a coil out off em there's not much profit.
I know the 4800 is heaps cheaper then the 5000 but I think that fine gold setting on the 5k will pay the difference between the two in a season or so, for those who are lucky enough to get out for decent amounts of time.
cheers

Thinkin about getting a new 4800 myself, and yeah fair enough "they say" the 5000 will get the tiddly bits a 4800 wont, not so sure myself, found lotsa tiddlies with my 3500. Im gonna dry blow "by hand" a couple of my patches which I reckon will find more, fly shitey bits that even a 5000 wont get. From what I have learnt so-far in my short time as a prospector is that there is "no best way" to operate a metal detector, too many variables and the debate can go on forever.
and ever.
