Tropical low near Kimberley
A CYCLONE warning has been issued for communities in far north WA as a tropical low develops near the Northern Territory.
The warning affects coastal areas from Daly River Mouth in the Northern Territory to Kalumburu in WA's Kimberley.
A tropical low is currently 125km east of Darwin and 530km north-east of Wyndham, moving south at 15km per hour.
At lunchtime today, the low was over the north-west Top End and was expected to move in a southwest direction, passing over the southern Timor Sea tomorrow.
The Bureau of Meterology warns that gales with gusts to 95 kilometres per hour may develop between Daly River and Kalumburu tomorrow.
There is the potential that the low will develop into a category one system if it moves out over the Timor Sea.
People living in these areas are urged to prepare themselves and their homes for a possible cyclone and listen to advice alerts.
