Locking of threads Empty Locking of threads

Post by Guest Sun 22 Sep 2013, 7:36 pm

It's amazing isn't it. We all try to contribute, giving out knowledge, opinions, help, a few laughs etc and some twat comes along and ruins it - with one message. Then we get the thread locked and everybody misses out. They're called "spoilers" and they never post unless it's to abuse someone. If nobody puts anything on a forum that is helpful or interesting then that forum will fold. Forum don't last long running on abuse.

This is typical of our society today, one DH brings every body down. It may come as a surprise that there are people in this world that just want to help others, without any thought of being lauded or thanked. But there are others that reckon anyone that does that isn't genuine and should be ridiculed. It takes all sorts I suppose. It's a bloody sad place with some bloody sad indivuduals that live in it.

This the second time for me after I was heavily censured by management for stating my opinions and never abusing anyone whilst I did it. This guy, "FilthySquidBlow", was never even censured but we all get shut down because of him.

I've had it on here.

Bye,

Cat

PS - it was good while it lasted lwkgthgt , to you all.

Locking of threads Empty Re: Locking of threads

Post by Bignuggs Mon 23 Sep 2013, 8:33 am

The topic of the thread was OH&S and if everyone reads it carefully, it turned into a slanging match.
I issued 2 cautions to everyone to calm it down but it was ignored by the two protagonists.
As Ray is away, the job of management falls solely on my shoulders and, I took the necessary action and I don't apologize for locking the topic and I'm sure I will have to do it again someday in the future.
Cat you have taken this as an action against you personally and that is not the case. To say you have been heavily censured is not correct and I will not debate this any further.

I'm breaking my silence on this and it's against my better judgement.
The so called "Pratt" has gone.  Who it was is anyone's guess.
Slanging matches we don't need here and we do our best keep them out to maintain a forum where we can discuss any subject in a manner befitting intelligent discussion and we do it well.
Do I need to say anymore ??

Maybe just a bit more, GO THE DOCKERS  Razz

I hope you don't go mate. You seem like a nice bloke who has earns the respect of many fellow prospectors. It's always gonna be the harder for the good ones because we have to put up with the loose heads. It's a cross to be held with pride, though it gets a bit heavy at times. Cheers and hope to see some more informative posts from you.

Locking of threads Empty Re: Locking of threads

Post by Guest Thu 26 Sep 2013, 9:53 am

Well, with such support from decent people, I'll be back. What can a poor boy do but concede defeat in the face of such?

I was a lot p*ssed off at the time, as it always seems to happen to me on forums. I've been on a few and try to give out good info and stay away from confrontation of a personal nature. Sure, I have a lend occasionally, just as sports supporters do from time to time. But on some subjects I'm not afraid to be controversial but I always keep within the realm of opinion or advice and not slanging the other person in the debate. But sure enough, some tool will come along and start it off. At which point, I exit. Consequently, I will no longer give any of my now very scant supply of emotional capital on dickheads. I don't need the hassle in my life. I'm 66 years old and past arguing just for thrills.

I must be a good target eh! "Tall Poppy" as someone said, but I'm nothing of the kind. I'm just an old bloke that's been doing it for many years and it's amazing how not much has changed in all those years and the same problems keep coming up again and again. I just want to see people do prospecting the right way without getting into strife. Because I've learned from all those years, that very same strife creates major problems that backfire on all of us via govt bodies and vested interests. Then we'll all end up "BANNED",,,,,,,,,,from the bush!

Locking of threads Empty RE: LOCKING OFF THREADS

Post by aussie18 Thu 26 Sep 2013, 2:24 pm

I agree cat being a target seems to happen to the high profile users on forums, and is not on.
the TALL POPPY SYNDROME comment I think was directed at the member who is no longer here and not you judging by the following comment they made.
I might be mistaken but that's how I read it.
but anyhow enough off the garbage, lets get on with enjoying this forum.
cheers

Locking of threads Empty Re: Locking of threads

Post by Guest Thu 03 Oct 2013, 4:55 am

I left another forum for similar reasons after many years, it seemed to me that there were more and more dropkicks coming on board, contributing nothing but trying to bring down anybody who did actually try and contribute something useful, you end up spending all your time defending yourself and in the end it simply gets too hard......

But really you shouldn't let these pricks get the better of you, these trolls go from forum to forum causing havoc, they just get their jollies from doing what they do, I suppose if they haven't got the balls to say it to your face its not worth letting it worry you really is it.

Too true au-fever, just grow another skin and move on regardless rather than flap your gums and attract more with "poor me" comments, these blowflies soon move to another dung heap if you don't feed them.
