Dash mounted Video Cameras

Does anyone use a dash or windscreen mounted video camera on there expeditions to the great outback?

I got an email from a parts company and they had some for $50.
Just wondering if any one has used them and the quality of the recording?

A bit more equipment to add onto the vehicle and record our expeditions..
