I like watchin old footage like this, brings back memories of watching an old Doco of when
Menzies was first found by a Gov survey party(i think.) was 20+ years ago i seen this) to mark out
a route to Broome or north route from Kal anyway on Camelback, when they came across a rise that was
"studded with quartz and gold that crunched beneath their feet with every step they took"
So they pulled out all the grub and stuff and loaded the saddelbags full with the good stuff and headed back
to Kal and had a 3 day party that reportedly cost 10,000 pound(equivalent to what the Welcome Stranger
was worth at the time, 2500 ounce party for the whole town of Kal, hot damn, let the good times roll)
then made their claims and back to the hill to peg which today is Menzies.

I watched this Doco before Google was didlysquat and guess some TV channel has it stashed away rotting
somewhere. Would be good to have access to old file photo's of similar. I suppose the pics are photo plates are
locked up in some gov dept. Sad

I watched it yesterday and forgot to make a comment. It's good watching how it was done years back. Top stuff.

Cheers
Cliff
