Shaker bucket
My mate found this old shop made shaker bucked last week. Still in usable condition. A great find for sure.
It looks like it has no bottom from new but has small slots at 90 deg around the base for possibly a screen for grading.

Re: Shaker bucket
Hi Martin:
I don't know what a shaker bucket is, but that looks more like an old fire bucket to me.
The inside of the bucket looks a bit black too.

Re: Shaker bucket
hey Col, how are you buddy, keeping well i hope.
mate you could be right there. a shaker bucket was used by the old timers. they shovelled in dirt and shook it to drop the fines into a pile for panning and tip the rocks to one side, there the small old "dry blowing" trenches you see about a couple of mts long depression where they dug down to the hard stuff with a pile of graded rocks along one side. good indicators of gold.
i didnt think along the lines it could be a fire bucket so anyone who could maybe clarify comments welcome.
cheers
