Finally a 5000 on the way to me
Well fellow prospectors I have finally managed to obtain a near new GPX 5000, so I am asking for your expertise with the machine,,,,,
What are your favourite settings that have worked for you,
With what coil do you use these settings,
In what sort of groud (generally speaking),
I realise any answers are generic and will need refined as I go, but chasing variations I can work with as a starting point.
Thanks in advance
Happy hunting

Re: Finally a 5000 on the way to me
one thing that helps me steve is to run in general/ normal. mono for mono coil and fixed with gain as high as you can keeping it quiet, same with stability . if you hit a target i switch from normal to enhanced and if its a hot rock it should cancel it out. same as fine gold in special, i checked this 20 or so times digging the target just in case and every time it was a hot rock. saves a lot of digging. good luck buddy

Steve are you staying down south ?
I'm hoping to get out a bit as well, if the heat gets too much I might have to head south for some trips.

Re: Finally a 5000 on the way to me
the only way u become good at what u do with this machine is to turn it on and have a good understanding of some of the basics which include:
RX GAIN
STABLISER
TARGET VOLUME
SENS SMOOTH-SENSITIVE XTRA
IRON REJECT OFF.
front panel :
Fixed
Mono
Enhanced---Normal
HIT THE AUTO TUNE
if u find u r getting a lot of EMI then leave the machine in MANUAL TUNE and as soon as it starts to warble simply reach around and twist the RH button--problem solvered.
what i have read is that people would rather whinge about EMI than find a solution. easy.
good luck
