just opened my detector to get ready to go away.makes normal start up noise then goes into loud warbleing screaming noise must  have a:  short in it ,does anyone know where i can get it serviced local  chas

sure your not near Interferance... start it up without the coil pluged in..

It all got fixed so Chas tells me. Ismael was able to help.
