You should be able to make google your home page.
Cant you select google from a list of search engines in preferences or whatever they are called in windoze?

Firefox and Google Empty Re: Firefox and Google

Cliff
Your reference relates to the Google Toolbar as distinct from the Google search engine. Although I’ve never used the toolbar, apparently there are some good things that you can do with it: https://support.google.com/toolbar/answer/81376?hl=en

Perhaps more alarming is “search engine bias”. http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/it-security/search-engine-bias-what-search-results-are-telling-you-and-what-theyre-not/. Google has been accused of this and is now under investigation.

As a matter of interest, Firefox offers a number of search options as standard eg ebay, wikipedia.
There is also an option to add or remove other search engines.

It won't let me use google search. I dunno why but I can use Bing.
I've tried some of the other search functions and they are also a no go.

Cliff:
Try this. In the top right hand corner of Firefox is the Search box.
· Click on the small green + symbol to expand the box.
· Click on “Change Search Settings” at the bottom.
· Check to see if all available search options are ticked.

Another option is to reset FF default settings as follows:
· Click the menu button and then click help .
· From the Help menu choose Troubleshooting Information. ...
· Click the Reset Firefox button in the upper-right corner of the Troubleshooting Information page.
· To continue, click Reset Firefox in the confirmation window that opens.

Hi Col,
Tried that yesterday but it didn't matter what I did, it wouldn't allow google search.
All I could find in firefox help was the encrypted version and now it works.  stuffed if I know.
