Cost of 4x4 spare parts
Some months ago I finally got around to getting a 4x4 and I've been gradually spending money and time getting it up to standard prior to registration.
I needed a new reverse light switch so off to the nissan dealer I go. There went another $65 out of the wallet.
So thought I'd ask about the price of a new fan belt, $98 I started having pains in my chest so wasn't game to ask about a new top radiator hose
I'm hoping places like repco can do nissan parts cheaper. Anyone know ?

Re: Cost of 4x4 spare parts
Cliff,
Unless you have a money tree you don't buy genuine disposable spares from the manufacturer as you have found out.
Your local AutoPro, SuperCheap etc are the places you will find most generic spares.
My first 4WD was a Nissan MQ shortie, 24V system, blew a headlight globe, $75.00 from Nissan $8.50 from AutoPro.

Yep...........I get a lot of my Nissan parts from Repco. Also Dayco belts are very good too. I use Dayco Toyota timing belt kits. Available from Cov`s. Repco give 10% off if you flash an RAC card.
Just got $85 off a set of Munroe shocks and steering damper for the Nissan.

Re: Cost of 4x4 spare parts
Dayco are the best, even better Dayco Gold if you want spend a bit extra
Working in the North on A/C, Dayco were the only ones that handled it
Just replaced the timing belt in the ute with Dayco

Gday Bign
New belt for my Colorado was $35 at Auto One, $15.50 at Geraldton Ag Services. The Ag services around the country stock a truckload of parts for the cockies and they're very well priced.
cheers

Yep
after importing auto stuff for 20 years
I would only go back to a dealer if it is major
( replaceable under warranty part )
Agree with seller's names mentioned above

Re: Cost of 4x4 spare parts
Thanks for the info. I'm glad I didn't buy the gold plated nissan fan belt.
managed to order one from supercheap auto for $34 but forgot to ask about the hose.
I also needed new brake an clutch pedal rubbers. I was told I could get them from nissan for $45 but they are only $16 off the internet with free postage.
Don't think I'll be going near the nissan dealer again.

Thanks Pete and there's nothing wrong with nissans. Old ones anyway, I wouldn't touch a new one.
