Kanowna Then & Now
Its amazing what old WA goldfield towns used to look like, and now they're just Dust & memories.

Pete, thank you for putting that up. I love seeing that sort of stuff.
My Granny was born in Broken Hill in 1895, they moved to Kal sometime before 1901. Her brother was born in Brown Hill (part of the super pit) on the electoral rolls as Medindie Hill.
Her mum and dad were originally from south oz, Kapunda. I still got rellies over there I believe. so why don't I like Coopers

One thing I remember from visiting the kalgoorlie museum was a photo taken from the poppet head back in the day (don't remember the date) but you can stand in the very same place the photo was taken and overlook the town....amazing to see trees everywhere now.

to think they just about chopped down all the goldfields natural forest to feed the boilers. Thankfully they have saved some of the natural bush as Park area and can't be touched.
